Preparing for the National Defence Academy (NDA) involves not only excelling in the written exam but also meeting stringent physical and medical standards. Physical Standards for NDA

1. Height and Weight Requirements:

Female Candidates: The minimum height required is 152 cm (163 cm for Flying Branch). Weight should be proportionate to height and age as per the standard charts.

2. Chest Measurements:

The chest should be well-developed. The minimum range of expansion after full inspiration should be 5 cm. The minimum chest measurement should be 81 cm.

3. Vision Standards:

Army and Navy: Distant vision should be 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in the other, correctable to 6/6 only for Hypermetropia.

Air Force: Distant vision should be 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in the other, correctable to 6/6 only for Hypermetropia. Myopia should not exceed -2.5D and Hypermetropia should not exceed +3.5D including Astigmatism.

4. Hearing Standards:

Candidates should have normal hearing capabilities. They should be able to hear a forced whisper at a distance of 610 cm in a quiet room.

5. Dental Health:

Candidates should have a sufficient number of natural and sound teeth. A minimum of 14 dental points is acceptable.

6. Physical Fitness Tests:

Running: Candidates must complete a 2.4 km run in 15 minutes.

Push-ups: Minimum of 20 push-ups.

Sit-ups: Minimum of 20 sit-ups.

Chin-ups: Minimum of 8 chin-ups.

Rope Climbing: Climb a 3.4-meter rope using hands and feet.

Medical Examination

Candidates who clear the physical tests will undergo a comprehensive medical examination at a Military Hospital. This includes:

Blood Tests: To check for any underlying health issues.

Ultrasound: To examine internal organs.

X-rays: To check for any skeletal abnormalities.
